Namasté! Blue Indigo Yoga is moving to the Mekong River in July. (click to read more)
We are saying goodbye to our beautiful green oasis in Siem Reap. After years of holding mindful space for you to learn and deepen your practice of yoga and meditation here, it is time to move on... We are excited (and a little scared) to be on our way to new adventures! In July we will be opening the doors of Blue Indigo Yoga Cambodia on the edge of the Mekong River, next to Phnom Penh. More information will follow soon, but we will keep providing drop-in classes, retreats, teacher trainings, wellness activities, and workshops. All with experienced and certified teachers along the tranquil Mekong river, surrounded by trees, pagodas, and local markets. We are looking forward to meeting you there!
Beautifully surrounded by a vibrant garden, in the center of Siem Reap. 7 km distance from Angkor City, and just 10 minutes away from the Siem Reap riverside.
Blue Indigo Yoga is designed as a spiritual retreat center. Our center comprises of seven comfortable wooden cottages, each 30 square meters. All cottages are provided with a ceiling fan and mosquito nets to keep the atmosphere cool and comfortable. Each cottage has a lovely bathroom with shower. Note that none of the cottages has air condition and this is not a resort. Our accommodation is basic, but clean and comfortable.
The cottages are nestled in an area surrounded by trees and flowers for a calming, jungle atmosphere. As we choose to not use pesticides to keep the ecosystem alive, you may encounter animals (frogs, gecko’s, lizards), insects (ants, spiders), and mosquitoes. Yes, at Blue Indigo Yoga you have all the comforts of the city, while you can relax in our beautiful green, natural garden.
In the center of our property, there is a 100 square meter yoga shala. It’s an open air shala: no walls, but with a roof. Also, there are fans to keep your head cool during the hottest days. Besides this big yoga shala, there’s a smaller shala to practice in smaller groups.
Nature and art
With lush gardens and cosy accommodation (simple and beautiful like nature itself), Blue Indigo Yoga is a oasis in the hectic city. Full of art made by the owners, students and volunteers which have stayed with us over the years, it’s like a place right out of a fairy tale. You can also tap into your own creativity during your time at Blue Indigo. We offer a number of art supplies and a space for you to unlock the artist within at our center.
You share our beautiful land with the six cats who live here. If you’re a cat lover you’re in luck, as most of them are always up for a hug. If you are less fond of cats, don’t worry, if you don’t open your door for them, they’ll leave you alone.
Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor Wat, the millenium-old temple ruins of the Khmer Empire. Its’s the largest archeological religious monuments in the world and they are definitely one of the highlights of Cambodia and even all of Asia. From Blue Indigo Yoga, it’s only a short trip to this ancient city, and we’re more than happy to help you organize your trip there.
The city of Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is the vibrant bustling capital of Cambodia. … Beside the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, the National Museum, the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, the Choeng Ek Killing Fields and Wat Phnom, there are several market places selling carvings, paintings, silk, silver, gems and even antiques.
Cambodia’s main geographical features are the low lying Central Plain that includes the Tonlé Sap basin, the lower Mekong River flood-plains and the Bassac River plain surrounded by mountain ranges to the north, east, in the south-west and south. The central lowlands extend into Vietnam to the south-east.
